How Much Does Gutter Cleaning Cost in Iowa?

Here's what homeowners in Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Iowa City, and the surrounding Iowa Corridor typically pay for a professional gutter cleaning, plus the factors that move the number up or down.

Gutter cleaning is one of the least expensive home maintenance jobs you can pay for, and one of the most valuable. Skipping it usually costs far more than doing it. Here's an honest look at pricing in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area.

MaxFlow flat-rate pricing

We use flat-rate starting prices so you know what to expect before we ever pull in the driveway:

  • Single-story ranch or bungalow: starting at $119
  • Standard 2-story residential: starting at $169
  • 3-story or steep-roof estates: custom quote
  • Homes with gutter guards that need lifted: typical add-on $50 to $150
  • Minimum trip fee: $95
See the full breakdown on our pricing page. Final pricing may vary slightly based on total linear footage, severe heavy debris blockages, or the presence of gutter guards. Estimates are always free.

What actually changes the price

Six things move the number more than anything else:

1. Home height and stories

A single-story ranch is quick. A two or three-story home takes longer, needs taller ladders, and is more careful work. Height is usually the single biggest factor.

2. Linear feet of gutter

Most homes have between 150 and 250 linear feet of gutter. Larger homes with wings, dormers, or attached garages can easily double that.

3. Debris load and time since last cleaning

Gutters that haven't been cleaned in a couple of years hold packed shingle grit, seed pods, and rotted leaf mat. It takes real time to hand-clear and haul that off. Once you're on a regular schedule, cleanings are faster and often cheaper.

4. Tree cover

Homes under mature oaks, maples, or pines in older Cedar Rapids neighborhoods collect debris fast. Heavy tree cover often means twice-a-year service and a fuller cleanup each visit.

5. Roof pitch and access

Steep pitches, tight setbacks, landscaping right against the house, or fenced-in yards all slow the job down safely.

6. Gutter guards

Guards help, but they still need to be lifted and the gutter underneath flushed. Different guard styles take different amounts of time. More on this in do gutter guards need cleaning.

What's included in a MaxFlow gutter cleaning

We don't do line-item add-ons for the basics. Every job includes:

  • Hand-clearing every section of gutter
  • Clearing and testing every downspout
  • A full water flush to check flow and slope
  • Removing loose debris from the roof edge
  • Bagging and hauling off debris, or piling in the yard if you prefer
  • A quick visual check for sagging runs or obvious issues you should know about

DIY vs professional cost

DIY looks cheaper on paper: a bucket, a ladder, gloves, maybe a scoop. Two or three hours later most homeowners are back inside sore and wet, and only the front is done. The real cost of DIY is ladder time, and Iowa ladder falls are common every spring and fall. If your home is one story and you're comfortable on a ladder, DIY is reasonable. Two stories and up, pay a pro.
